Ultrasonic level gauge is a digital level instrument that processes signals with a high-performance microprocessor. In measurement, ultrasonic pulses are emitted by sensors (transducers), and sound waves are reflected off the surface of an object and received by the same sensor.

The receiving circuit, filtering circuit, and envelope circuit convert them into electrical signals that can be recognized by the processor. The processor records the time between ultrasonic emission and reception, thereby calculating the distance between the sensor and the object being measured. Due to the use of non-contact measurement, the measured medium is almost unrestricted and can be widely used for measuring the height of various liquid and solid materials.

Working principle:

Sound waves are reflected off the surface of an object, and some of the reflected echoes are received by the probe and converted into electrical signals. The time from ultrasonic emission to being re received is proportional to the distance between the probe and the object being measured. The electronic unit detects the time and calculates the measured distance based on the known speed of sound. By subtracting, the level value can be obtained. Due to the influence of temperature on the speed of sound, instruments should measure temperature to correct the speed of sound.

Installation conditions for ultrasonic level gauge container:

● Closed containers

For ranges below 8m, the container should have flange openings above DN65;

For ranges of 10m and 12m, the container should have flange openings above DN80, and the length of the connecting pipe under the flange should be less than 15cm.

For a 15m range, there should be flange openings above DN150 on the container, and the length of the connecting pipe under the flange should be less than 15cm.

For ranges of 20m, 30m, and 40m, the container should have flange openings above DN200, and the length of the connecting pipe under the flange should be less than 20cm.

● Open container

For ranges below 8m, the container should have an installation port with a diameter of 65mm or more;

For ranges of 10m and 12m, there should be mounting ports with a diameter of 80mm or more on the container, and the thickness of the mounting port should be less than 15cm.

For a 15m range, there should be a mounting port with a diameter of 150mm or more on the container, and the thickness of the mounting port should be less than 15cm.

For ranges of 20m, 30m, and 40m, there should be a mounting port with a diameter of 200mm or more on the container, and the thickness of the mounting port should be less than 20cm.

● Open pool

Installation brackets are required. Outdoor applications in cold areas: open pools: should be installed with raised height to prevent ultrasonic probes from frosting and freezing.

Container: For outdoor installation with flanges, insulation measures should be taken; Unable to keep warm, an ultrasonic level gauge with an extended probe should be ordered to allow the probe to extend into the container.
